Rates are generally determined by our "Artist" or "Cultural/ Intermediate" categories, described here. Please see the Shooting and Editing sections for specific equipment and editing room rates. The latter are hourly; mobile production gear rates are daily. Discounts may apply. Occasionally, we are able to set rates on a project-specific basis, depending on a number of criteria. Our mandate is to provide as low rates as possible for independent media artists who have sole creative control of their work. CSV reserves the right to determine the applicable rate category for all projects.
CSV operates on a "pay-as-you-go" basis. We accept cash, personal cheques, debit cards, VISA and Mastercard credit cards. We now accept online payment via Paypal for workshop registrations and membership renewals. Payment for off-hour editing sessions should be made in advance or, at the latest, on the next business day. You must make special arrangements with an appropriate staff member if you wish to delay your payment for any reason. Mobile bookings are always C.O.D. Accounts over 30 days old are charged 1.5% interest per month.
Volunteering - C$V (Charles Street Dollar) Program
We occasionally need volunteer work to be done. Under the C$V Program, members work on short term assignments in return for CSV Dollars. These may be used to offset editing-room rental charges. For more information, contact the office.
